*Scroll DOWN for product links!* Does the perfect do-it-all panfish rod really exist? The answer is, of course, no. There are too many techniques that work well for panfish to cover them all with one rod, however, there IS one rod that does a pretty good job of covering as many as possible and that's what I'm breaking down in this video. The Ultimate Guide to SPINNER FISHING for Trout in Streams & Rivers
Very informative! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks for sharing 👍🤓👍
Thank you! Very helpful!
Catfish, carp, and suckers are bottom feeders like the Porch Pirates that eat those species of fish!
I’ll eat carp and suckers too! 😆
What size hook do you use for the yarn flies, and what size for wax worms and a float?
6s and 8s.
Spent grand total of 6-8 hrs on other videos of that topic and didn’t learn nearly as much as I did from your video in 6 minutes. Thanks!
Haha. Nice. Thanks!
Awesome. Straight to the point!
Thank you.
Great video. What flavor billy rub did you use on that fly?
Nightcrawler I believe
If its fishy you don't know what your doing
That’s kind of the point of this video.
You waste too much meat
This video is not intended to show how to get the most meat from the fish. I would cook it whole if I wanted the most meat.
Glad you know that I don't waste food
I am one of the fishermen that throws. my pike back after catching them. With this excellent presentation I think I will be eating my next one. Great job in breaking it down to simple steps.
Good deal! I think you will like it.
What river is this?
🤐 😂
I want a braided line with at least some stretch. Why has nobody come out with that yet? I just don't like the cons of braided for most of my fishing so i have to switch back and forth.
Good question. Not sure why.
Thankyou.
You bet!
if you bleed the fish you don't have to worry about the blood patch
Not true. The blood patch is actually not blood at all. It’s lateral tissue.
Short and sweet. A nice refresher about Spring smallies. Keep up the good work.
👍
Should go to Kabeelo Lodge in Northwestern ontario Canada..great walleye fishing!
I’ll check it out.
Your tutorial made a 1x fileting a less daunting task. Thank you for posting.
Awesome! Glad to hear it.
Pike is the most disgusting fish. But shit if the cats dont love it. The spinefilet is edible
🤷
Always taste muddy.
Maybe depends on the water you are catching them in.
You have the best fillet videos on RUclips! I am curious tho on how you are sharpening your fillet knife?
Thanks! I’m working on a video about that. Stay tuned!
Dope
Thanks!
Is the skin actually good to eat? I've only ever filleted them and took the skin off, too.
It’s very good and fries up nice and crispy. You must scale them first of course.
Did you remove the guts before fileing?
No, no need when you fillet this way.
you r a novice you can pick up way more meat on the head and the dorsal fin you suck stop waisting meat !!!!! just angle your knife more carefully!!!
I use an electric knife way quicker
I need to figure that one out. Never tried an electric on catfish but I really should.
What do you mean by the pin bones will cook out? I just fried up some bluegill and there were a few pin bones left over. However, as I was eating it, I never found any pin bones.
If bones are small enough they will soften so much when cooked that you won’t notice them. They are still there but they just blend in with the meat.
PowerPro IS a "Japanese" braid, it's a Shimano brand.
That’s a stretch to say that Power Pro is “Japanese braid” just because it’s now owned by Shimano. Shimano did indeed purchase Power Pro but it is still manufactured in the US where it was also developed.
@@calebwistad Yeah, they bought it...and improved the manufacturing process and consistency and quality control. They put their money behind branding and marketing. So, it's no more of a stretch than calling a Toyota Tacoma a "Japanese" truck, now is it?
I'm pretty sure that going to the supermarket and giving the fish to someone else to fillet is actually the simplest. Debunked your claim!
Ok, you got me on a technicality. 😆
What size are the hooks that you replaced?
I believe they are size 12
Does the backer idea work for Baitcaster? I feel like just a layer or 2 would give grip but I also feel like you don’t need to fill it out
Yes. Absolutely it does. It also definitely helps casting distance and getting the full gear ratio out of your baitcaster to fill it out as far as you can.
cut that belly meat out thats where all the murcure is
The most mercury tends to build up in the internal organs of fish and secondly in the muscle tissue. There is no muscle tissue that has proven to build up any more mercury than other muscle tissue.
I have never had an issue with my braid spinning on my spool. Even when catching very large fish in the ocean and I never use a mono backer. Maybe its the type of knot being used. For anyone saying I havent caught a large enough fish. I was fishing this afternoon and caught a sea turtle (not intentionally, i wasnt turtle fishing FFS, would have been much happier with a Tuna). Anyway it was massive and had to weigh over 100lbs. Sadly I had to cut the line after trying to get it back to the beach and fighting with it for about 30mins. But no slips. I suggest for those with slipping issues, use a 3 loop cinch knot and loop the line over at least twice over the spool. Then pull that sucker down tight. Then on top of that make sure when you pull line onto your spool, keep some tension on the line while doing so. If your still having issues, some reel companies designed rubber friction pads onto their reels spools. Like the Pflueger model 6940 for example I own. If thats still an issue, they do make rubber rings to put onto your spools directly before adding line. Hope this helps.
I’m sure it can work if you do it correctly, especially with 4 carrier braid in larger sizes or if you have the rubber gripper pads on your spool. Where I have seen the most trouble is on slick 8 carrier braids in smaller sizes. I just know 100% that if I put a little bit of mono backer on I won’t have any trouble.
@@calebwistad Could be the case for sure. The smallest braid I use is .32mm (around 10lb dia of mono line).
I know of two lakes that have only walleyes in them and with the absence of larger fish hunting them down most of them will actually stay shallow all year round even when the lakes lock up with ice and they are incredibly aggressive and will even strike your lure on the surface right beside the boat.
Man, sounds like a dream come true!
There is more than 8 carrier also.
Yes, there are higher strand count lines available but they are very much the minority.
Nice video thank you. One tip or negative thing about braid is that it can wind knot more easily being so thin and light. To remedy this is to always be contious about keeping the line under load with the lure when casting.
Yes it can, it takes some practice to keep your line always under tension. I’ve seen mono guys struggle with this for a while after they switch to braid before figuring it out.
What about a tube ?
Tubes certainly work but I have far more confidence in a Ned rig for most situations.
Excellent info for a bass guy going North for the first time.
Awesome! Glad to hear it.
Best braid video I've seen on youtube. Thank you to our host. We should all be grateful guys. A lot went in to making this video. Question: how do we know if the braid we use is a 4 or 8 carrier? Does it say on the package?
Thanks very much! Yes, sometimes it will say on the package and a lot of the 8 carrier braids have an 8 in the name (power pro super 8 slick, sufix 832, beyond braid 8x, etc.)
I run 40 lb braid on all my baitcasters and spinning reels for bass fishing
40 should get it done. Not too many worries about break offs with 40lb.
That's a nice rod there st Croix eyecon snap jig if I seen it right. I know it's most definitely a st croix I use the diawa braid then video showed in the beginning. Dont know the specs just known the box. I buy theb300 yard spool with the scissors.
Yessir. It’s a Eyecon all right! Great rod.
Doesn't do much for Canadian anglers and of course it's not a free app. 7 day free trial gives you access to the features. Save your money in my opinion
Yeah, I haven’t looked into it from the Canadian side. I mentioned the cost of the app at the end of the video. I realize it costs 50 bucks a year but so does Navionics.
Good tips!! Spring is great!!
Hard to beat springtime fishing!
thank you very much for your time and info. Have a blessed day and don't forget to Enjoy Life. From Bridgeport Connecticut.
Thanks and good luck!
I don’t know if anybody’s told you, but I just watched one of your programs. I’m using electric knife on crappie instead of going back to redo your pin bones. Take your cut there and just cut the pin bones and the Ribs right out the same time.
I know you can definitely do it that way. You lose a little meat but it’s quicker for sure.
Why didn't you remove the ribs in the last technique?
How do you kill them?
Cut the gills.
Does this include Rainy Lake MN have a trip in June with the family
Yes. Not much for user maps completed up there yet but all the other features will work perfectly.
Would this include Lake Erie Central basins and my local lakes of north western Pennsylvania
A very underrated fish. Tasty sweet flesh. Makes a nice fried fish sandwich
They are one of the best.
Your title was right I think I will definitely try this next time when I go fishing
Nice! Thanks!
